BBC R&D’s Rajitha Weerakkody delivered a keynote speech at the training school organised by the FP7 CLOUDSCREENS Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN), at the Loughborough University London, on 01 December 2016. The event was attended by 20 people including academics, researchers and students from the university.
The presentation covered the general scope of the COGNITUS project: the convergence of broadcast and user generated content for future interactive UHD services, focusing on the new challenges and opportunities. The key features and performance of the HEVC open source Turing codec were also discussed as a part the technical work carried out in the project.
